Dear Phantom Stranger

Dear Phantom Stranger,
Since I met you 3 weeks ago, I’ve realised a lot about myself. When we were talking, you were so positive, nothing you said was a complaint and you saw the best in everything. During our 8 hour conversation you introduced me to a new side of myself, a side I never realised existed, a side I’ve since changed.
Everything I was saying came with a complaint, I wasn’t telling you that in fact, my town isn’t really that bad at all. I wasn’t telling you that actually, a 34 in the IB is a pretty good score and I wasn’t telling you that I’d be happy not going to my first choice university. It was as if I was satisfied with pretending to be so unsatisfied, when in fact, I really have nothing to complain about at all.
I haven’t much idea on who you are, where you are, or what you do, but I’d like to thank you, distant stranger, for helping me to see things more positively.
Yours,
Realised
